I would go for answer ( B )

We are all human being, not machines that can go on working without falling sick, even the machines can break down sometimes, we are just human beings and like all human beings we can fall sick, I would wish the employee well and tell him/her to take it easy, if today that employee is sick, tomorrow, it could be me who falls sick, would I want people to start assuming that I am skipping work on purpose where as nothing could be further from the truth. You need to learn to trust, that is how you earn trust in return. As for the argument that this system is abused, then as a manager it is your duty to keep checks and look at employees "sickness trend"
