In Bayt.com, I have voluntarily joined. But for Linked in I used to get anonymous requests to join as if it is sent by My close friends, when eqnuired they have no connection in this matter.  Such tactics, usually I don't like, though in the modern era of  (s)marketing these are all a part of it. As of now  Bayt.com is very diplomatic in approach.

Bayt.com: If all the participants are serious and have a little more control over their activities (not meant all are alike, exceptions are many) this is a unique plat form and is rich with many good qualities.  One can utilize this website for pure self-development.3  to 6 months continuous engagement make a lot of difference, if participants are quite serious in approach with no personalized motives.

I am also trying to correct for many setbacks, which at present I am facing.

Thank you.

It used to be a difference, now I can't tell.

I used LinkedIn during my university years just to keep in touch with classmates and professors, now its for reunions and if I still need to contact  my professors I know where to find them.

Thank you all for the Wonderful answers.

Though Linkedin & Bayt though has some common features such as:-

  1. Both provide an platform for professional networking
  2. Both have an platform for professional discussion, sharing business interests, blogging etc
  3. Both provide Job seekers to explore new opportunities
  4. Both have premium & free services

Having said it either based on it's vision is different or the way it is Positioned itself is different .

Where  Bayt clearly mentions that it is "Bayt.com is the #1 job site in the Middle East, offering a complete range of end-to-end employment solutions and career planning tools" thus, it has positioned itself as 'It is an basically an Job Search site & not as a professional networking site where it provides various Professional networking opportunities along with an platform where potential employer's & employees meet". where as:

Linkedin does not promote just as 'A Job search Site' but " a business-oriented social networking service" or an professional networking site which provides opportunities for professionals to interact, share ideas, encourages blogging along with an opportunity at global level a platform for potential employers to showcase it's Job requirements or find potential employees & Candidates an potential place to look for Job opportunities.

Frankly what is the Difference?

Bayt though has set an vision of 'Being the best Jobsite' have incidentally or unintentionally has moved from just that & being an 'Professional Networking sites' with even unique features such as 'Ranking system for participation', 'Specializing in the streams of Interest', 'Application for testing' etc which even Linkedin does not have.

My humble Feedback & Suggestion:

Though providing lot of unique features which most of other competing sites do not have as mentioned above & way forward i think Bayt should 'Position' itself not mere just as 'A Job Site' but as a 'Professional Networking site & educative site which also provides opportunities for potential employer & employee's to interact & choose the best based on their needs".

I think, by this you could attract more qualitative professionals & some great companies in your basket

Suggestions:-

Though there are lot of great things especially the Interaction section, there are some developments needed especially for 'Sharing articles' or blogging'. For Example: Though sharing articles links could be provided but how can one give link to an photo while updating it?? (I think it is either not programmed well or there is an error which has got unnoticed)
