Is it true that poor payments may lead to poor performance of the job?

first of all i personally think that  if my needs arent full fill why should i join the company at first place ??? make sense rite !! , An employee needs future secure job which will only depend on his performance. brother i think answer needs to ne in details there scenarios so be more specific and then quote the question again , i be happy to answer in detail if you give me a single scenario.
