As on date Petrel is one of the best softwares to use for Geological Modelling and Mapping

by Ahmed Mahdy , Senior Engineering Geologist , Dar Al Handasah

Petrel is mostly used for subsurface2D or3D modeling i think Arc Gis is the best for surface mapping
