In order to improve plant energy efficiency, a good maintenance plan should be in place. An application of RCM, having an updated master equipment list and maintenance history and failure history of all equipment are a must. This can be presented to the management by planning a maintenance approach to each type of equipment based on the historical data and criticality of the equipment in terms of operation. Monetary value can then be evaluated comparing the previous maintenance approach to the newly proposed plan as a support to justify and convince the management. In addition, minimal downtime which means less opportunity loss and proper inventory of spares will be identified because of the new maintenance approach to be adapted.
