A laissez-faire leader takes a hands-off approach to leadership, allowing subordinates to make decisions. The mantra of a laissez- faire leader is “Hire good people and get out of their way.” The laissez-faire leader defers to the person he has selected for a given position to provide the leadership in that area.

A non-authoritarian leadership style, Laissez faire leaders try to give the least possible guidance to subordinates, and try to achieve control through less obvious means. More freedom and less control in a quality work environment. Individual decisions are confirmed by the management later on which facilitate quick implementation of innovative ideas in the field the followers are working.  The culture, quality, educational status, social system in which they are working all are important for a laisssez-faire leadership style implementation.

It means more freedom and less control. Employees are given the space to decide how to get their work done and only coached and given advice when needed.
