From my point of view, I would say that the reason why restlessness prevails in most countries despite having democratically elected government can be traced back to the antecedent of democratic governments. Democracies often emerge after unpleasant political circumstances e.g war. In most cases when a new government comes into power as a democracy, such government will have to work hard to gain the support of its citizens who were once used to living under different types of political settlement.

Democratic regimes are also particularly fragile which is very evident in most less developed countries because democratic regimes allow for the expression of diverse views by the members of a political community which could make governance very difficult and leading to restlessness. Also, as a political community consist of groups of people with conflicting needs and views the more dominant group will strive to steer the government in their direction so as to get their benefits from the government which automatically means that one group within the community has been given the means to triumph over the other group (or minority) which can certainly lead to political unrest. On a final note corruption, embezzlement of public funds, absence of credibility and accountability which are all prevalent in most countries of today is the main cause of restlessness within most countries with democratically elected government.

In the most simple method of explaining this phenomena, Is to understand first how democracy works and particularly in developed nations where the political system is set to allow certain bodies to control the whole game. Corporations and people of power are the real rulers of the political system including legislation as well. No one in a certain country will be able to run a campaign without a successful fund raising, only those who can fund and finance a campaign are the ones with money, big money I mean.

And for certain, they will need to make sure that the candidate is representing their interest, specially in the economic pattern and relative legislation.

At this point we will understand that democracy does't necessarily mean fair distribution of wealth and directly representing interest of those who voted in favor, as a result, restlessness and uprising from time to time is expected and those who hold power are always ready with plans and strategies for all the anticipated movements.
