Teenage is the most sensitive part of human life. For a teacher it is imperative to understand the demands of a teenager.

* The most essential of these is respect. If you treat them with respect, they'll learn quickly and will respect you. * The overall attitude of a teacher when dealing a teenager is more than a parent. He should be a parent, a friend and a teacher.

* The teacher should be close enough so that the student can trust him and can share his problems with him.

* At the same time he should maintain enough distance where student can realize the limits a teenager student should maintain when interacting with teacher.

Value their opinions and never be too critical for no good reason. If what they put forward isn't true or sounds weird, correct them in a gentle way.It is a make or break stage in their lives so all efforts to keep them on your side rather than being opponents is called for. This however doesn't mean spoiling them.

Be an earnest listener and trying to understand them being in their shoes.

Give them funny tasks, keep them upbeat

To successfully work with teenagers it is necessary to gain their trust and respect. Show them that you want to treat them like adults and not children but still maintaining a clearly defined "student/tutor"  relationship is paramount to upholding standards of behaviour and discipline. It's is not your job or position to be their "friend" you are there to teach them, this doesn't mean that you can't be friendly but boundarys  must be established and adhered to.

After explaining something (maybe a technical term or a chemical process or...etc), also use examples from their lives to help them understand better.
