Teacing Arabic to any other language speaker is more difficult as Arabic language has real difficult grammar and a real rich language. But it also deppend on the way and the methods of teaching which will make the learning of the language easier or more difficult.
In fact, it is all relevant to a set of factors such as exposure to the language, the methodology, the attitude, the motivation and others. However, I have noted many of my Arabic speaking students catch up fast in English and move to an advanced level within one scholastic year, but the students who were studying Arabic struggled with the special Arabic classes.
