What's better Design software for Product Design.CATIA or SOLIDWORKS?

CATIA is a vast software with lots of modules. It is customized based on the Organizations requirements and nature of operations. Its a complete CAD/CAM as well a file management & coordination from multiple locations in the world is possible.

 

SolidWorks is a lighter version of CATIA, from same parent with different R&D team. Maily for CAD and light part of CAM. In this coordination or file management from multiple destination is difficult. Its very simple, good library available, much cheaper than CATIA, applicable for most of the Industry, very few additional modules available and need in general.

 

For Future both are developing team together and expanding vast with cloud technology.

Solid Works is very goos for product design

Solidworks is very user friendly and u'll b able to do any design easily.. Catia Requires little time to understand.. But both are very good excellent softwares for a mechanical engineer to learn..

Difference between CATIA &SOLID WORKS Parts & Assembly ModelingSimulation & AnalysisAnimations& documentation is same at two softwares. But major difference is Rendering Cost Estimation is only available in SOLID WORKS. But, otherwise one advantage in catia is used to aircraft modeling & simulation. So ,SOLID WORKS IS A BETTER DESIGN SOFTWARE. ALL ARE USED EASILY&COST IS LOW COMPARE TO CATIA.

CATIA and solid works are both product from Desault system france.

CATIA is basically considered as a high end software more sutable for Surfacing , complex shape etc

where as solidworks is a low cost simple software for basic3 D modelling.
