The micro environment refers to the business itself and the forces that are close to the company. It affect its ability to serve its customers, suppliers, the company itself and the public. While macro-environment refers to all forces that are part of the larger society that includes concepts such as demography, economy, natural forces, technology, politics, and culture. So change management has a higher impact on Macro Environment as it has factors affecting an organization that will affect Micro Environment.

Micro environment has higher impact on change management

As a basic rule , change needs to insteer a new approch & culture within an organisation for better performance

The other facet is that the organisation has to cope with the macro environment change

Thanks Mr. Raafat for inviting me, it was a good opportunity to search for these two terms. As a quality person, I see the major challenge for change is the culture of the organization. But still the culture of organization is a reflection of public culture and this is what's common between the micro and macro environments. There are many examples of people moved from their countries/organizations to other countries/organizations of a higher cultural level and those people adapted to the new culture remarkably and practiced more professionally than in original places.

If we have two companies in same industry in the same country, i.e. the macro environment is almost the same, the difference of accepting the change between them will be due to micro environment mainly and expected to be minor. But when there is a multinational company has branches in several countries, i.e. the micro environment is almost the same but the macro environment differs, there will be remarkable differences of impact on change because of the macro environment of each branch.

Micro Environment  defiantly has the higher impact  in change management because, many new companies are coming in the market, the competition is very tough now.  which is very hard in Macro Environment.

This depends on what you are trying to change. If the change being introduced is small and within one of the processes in the organization then it would be the micro environment which will have the higher impact.

If the change being introduced is larger in scale and affecting people outside the organization at a local or global level then the macro environment will have a higher impact.

I would say: “It depends on the situation!”; ie: situation is a manger, eg: sometimes you might find that all factors in the macro environment are supporting change however resistance to change comes from micro environment such as organization culture  (at this scenario, the micro environment has a higher impact on change) OR senior management advocating and supporting change while issues related to government or legal things may work on the opposite direction (while at this scenario, the macro environment has a higher impact on change).does it make sense!
