It mainly depends on the application in use....Aix6.1 TL8 & Aix7.1 TL2 are stable versions..But check for fixes w.r.t the application on Ibm Website..

Hello,

As per the technical point of view there is nothing like a best version in AIX .Obviously,  the indent to release multiple versions is that to enhance the features and fulfilling the requirements of the application interfaces . Technology levels are released in order to make the integrity of the operating system. 

 

Also , as every said it depends upon the application compatibility  the application vendors also dependent on the OS versions.

There is NO the best AIX version, the OS is still growing and some OS special function will be depends on the hardware level. So... ...

yeah, it depends on the application you deploy on the OS

Well, I haven't had much experience with7.1 so I am going to go with6.1 But I heard they have some good changes for7.1
