RO membrane needs to be cleaned if the productivity   or  salt rejection is reduced

The main problem that makes the membrane to be cleaned is the scaling, so we need to know the type scaling in the membrane

:Calcium Carbonate and Metal Oxides Scale

Clean with low pH water. The water pH is adjusted to3-4 and sulfuric, hydrochloric, or citric acids are used

:Calcium Sulfate Scale

Clean with a solution that include sodium tripolyphosphate or sodium salt of ethylene diamine tetra acetic acid

:Silica

Detergents and hydraulic cleaning

:Organics and biofouling

similar solution to calcium sulfate cleaning. In addition, use of detergents and biocides are recommended

But before sending water to boiler check the residual chemical to prevent scaling or corrosion of the boiler

You'll need3 chemicals to do membrane cleaning,1. an alkaline to remove organics,2. abiocide to kill organisms &3. an acid to remove inorganics.

Yes chemicals are being used at the pre-treatment based on the raw water quality. In addition pre-and post chlorination also being done according to the process requirement. Boron and sulphur corrections required for some raw water treatment.
