Are you using ERP or SAP ??
If you are you are like me with experience in material management and supplier relationship management??do you?
You must establish a supplier preferred list with all items they can supply and updated prices and delivery lead time.
Next you must control inventory and plan a material management work sheets to keep updated with current inventories,lead time on new orders,quantities to be ordered ,....etc.
Next thing you can do is get certification. one place to get certification is the american purchasing society where you can get your CPP certification and after experience as a purchase manager you can get your CPPM certification.
i have already been certified as a cpp and cppm.
