In order to fix files in bad-sectors from your hard disk in Windows Vista and XP go to: -Double-click My Computer (located on the desktop) -Right-click on the C: drive -Click on the Tools tab -Click on the Check Now button -Check "Automatically fix file system errors" -Check "Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors" -Click Start -Restart you computer when prompted and the utility will start automatically. -Check Disk may take a few minutes to an hour to complete. Windows has a built in Disk check tool a also known as chkdsk that can scan your hard drives for bad sectors, marking hard ones as bad and repairing soft ones to make them usable again. for more info run "cmd" then C:\\>chkdsk /?
If there is a bad sector or delay especially in the OS partition OS booting will be very slow or maybe not possible. So that we cannot use CHKDSK option in the OS. For erasing bad sector on a hard disk Drive we can use HDD Regenerator. Using this software is very easy first we need to make a bootable Cd of this software. boot from Cd drive. choose from the option (1) normal scan then (2) Scan and repair if there is a bad sector it will automatically regenerate. There are two types of bad sectors: Logical bad sectors and Physical bad sectors. Physical bad sectors are magnetic error on hard disk surface or badly damaged disk, like crashed. Those are permanent defects. We can only retrieve data from a healthy disk.
For those logical bad sectors, you can use the Windows built-in tool to scan and fix the bad sectors. You can open Computer and right-click on a drive letter. Then go to Properties -> Tools tab -> Check Now -> “Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors” and then click Start button to start detecting and repairing the logical bad sectors. As to the badly damaged hard drive with physical bad sectors, it’s time for you to buy a new one to replace it because there is no way to fix them. But for those of magnetic failure, you, however, have a big chance to repair such bad sectors. But you should get a tool called Abstradrome HDD Regenerator.

Low level Format -initializes the physical tracks on the surface of the internal disk. after the low level format you may format it again with your selected operating system... hope it can help =)
I don't think the physical bad sectors can be fixed as they are caused by an actual damage on the disk and no software can fix that.
