Community development is a process where community members come together to take collective action and generate solutions to common problems. Community wellbeing (economic, social, environmental and cultural) often evolves from this type of collective action being taken at a grassroots level.
The definition of community development is necessarily broad. I consider the most valid interpretation of the term to be investment, planning and implementation of construction or programs that bolster the safety, security and general well being of persons within a defined geography that constitutes a part of a political subdivision (e.g. city, county).
