Boss means your head and criticize your boss means to open the gate of problems where you will only feel tension so better appreciate your boss. If he do something wrong just explain the reasons why you want the solution in a different way. Give respect and get respect. Never put your hand in fire. The bad impression of employees are always in boss mind and mostly a boss remembers  enemies compare to  friends.

I would avoid this as much as possible. Criticizing your boss needs to be on the most polite manner and approach, it will be a healthy criticism if you deliver it right. The last person you would like to disappoint in your office is your boss, unless you want to have bad day everyday.

The approach you use to criticize you boss can determine whether the reaction is positive, negative, or something in-between. And while you cannot guarantee that your boss will react positively to criticism, you can minimize the degree of negativity by using different approaches and in different situations.

  1. Evaluate your relationship

  2. Timing your approach

  3. Formulate your content

  4. Dealing with the outcome

  5. Criticize privately and not infront of team

  6. Only criticize when they are wrong

Yes.  My Boss liked criticisms(very rarely from me-but one or two instances used to), he is a good gentleman with all human values and is well known for his social works in the middle east.

Building and maintaining healthy and professional relationship with in the organisation is the key to success in all aspects weather its organisational goal or our individual goals. Criticizing your boss, if at all should be done in a very professional way so as not to offend him. It is to be ensured and well explained the reason for criticism is not personal and should be focused on refinement and development of products and procedures. Criticizing should be done in the form of a debate as healthy discussions always lead to positive results.
