I have no issue with ringtones long as its not loud. With silent mode, you may miss an important call. As an individual, we must respect our co-workers.

According to me Sound mode is better because when u put your on silent mode. u have chance to miss important call. You can put your mobile on sound mode with simple tone with low volume which can be hear you.

For me I prefer to have on sound mode but it must be a decent one with a low volume, not bothering to anyone. And in case of keeping it on silent mode I may miss so many official / international calls which surely effect my Job / duties and sometime losses for the company and myself as well.

Yes ! If someone use several mobiles then only official Mobile should be in sound mode and others must be on silent mode.

As Organisational point of you, you have to follow the rules, policies and the Organisational Culture at your work place. Individually also it is a good practice to maintain silence at your work place so that others are not distracted and disturbed and to do so it is advisable to avoid speaking loudly and also to keep your mobilephone ring tone at a low volume as making it silent may result in important calls to go unnoticed. In important meetings however, it is always advisable to keep the same on silent mode.

I prefer to make it on silent mode during meetings because it is really rude and irritating when you are interrupted by mobile rings.  But if you are not in a meeting any low sound or a beep and vibration would be more suitable  so that you don't miss important calls when you are busy and concentrating on something.

Vibration mode is much better, it cannot disturb other employees but it can notify you if someone is calling or sending a text message.
