In any field of work there are two dimensions:

1- Management dimension

2- Technical dimension

So, to handle the management of school we need to have an experience about the application area as professional educationist and the management skills as general concepts.

If need is to run the educational institue purely as a business entity for profit making then yes otherwise a professional educationist would be much prefered for the temple of knowledge and its uncompromised values.

Agreed with Mr. Ghani, He probably able to handle school management if he has management knowledge since school is also an organization. However, School has unique sense as education institution which need the professional educationist more to achieve sense of education objectives.

Without doubt, especially in this day and age where Educators are expected to be budget managers as well as teaching professionals. To quote that well used expression: "Horses for courses"! Bring business acumen into the schools and colleges, in the form of professional managers/administrators and let the teachers do what they do best - teach! By all means retain the title and position of principle, it is after all a sign of respect, experience and achievement, but recognise it as an "academic" post.

I saw many great answers and valuable opinions on this critical issue. Approach is common that all want an uncompromised standard of education.

Keeping the ground facts in mind will give us a broader vision towards the issue.

1. Many State-run schools don't perform well despite having experienced and professional Principals.

2. Many privately-run institutions perform far better in spite of their limited resources and comparatively less experienced, non-professional Principals.

It means that the actual factor that plays its part in education is not the profession. It's dedication, love for education, passion, and the use of available skills and resources in a better way which play an active role.

No doubt, non-professional will do a task in more time as compare to a professional. If a professional show the utmost dedication then he is always be preferred.

We have many examples in the field of education when non-professionals used to change the history by using education as a tool in their regions.

What matter is can he do the task well or not

doesn't matter if he is professional educationist or not if he has the right competences then he FIT.

I don't see why not.  I think it might be good to get a bit of an outsider's opinion on how things should run.  A different perspective is sometimes what an organization needs.  The output, is the most important product of the school.  Achieving the desired output in a cost-effective manner that everyone can appreciate should be the goal of the principal.

A Professional Education Background is must for running the School where the world's richest assets are taking their "itellectual food." Only they  know what the exact requirement is and everything for this is registered in their mind from moulding period itself.  Directions without a vision....imagine  the situation.......

Management of any organization is not the game of kids it's required proper knowledge and experience to deal the concern department. Any teacher can teach in School but every teacher is not specialist in managing. To become a principle it is required to gain the revelent management degree with previous experience as Principle and having full capability to lead and control the organization management. A good educationalist can become a good teacher but it doesn’t mean he go and sit on the chair of Principle.
