An account manager (Sales) is a person who works for a company and is responsible for the management of sales, and relationships with particular customers. The account manager does not manage the daily running of the account itself. They manage the relationship with the client of the account(s) they are assigned to. Generally, a client will remain with one account manager throughout the duration of hiring the company. Account managers serve as the interface between the customer service and the sales team in a company.[1] They are assigned a company's existing client accounts. The purpose of being assigned particular clients is to create long term relationships with the portfolio of assigned clients. The account manager serves to understand the customer's demands, plan how to meet these demands, and generate sales for the company as a result

The chief accountant at a company can serve many roles, from overseeing the preparation of all financial documents related to the company to implementing financial strategies created by management or making investment decisions for the firm. As a chief accountant, you may sit on the upper management team to play an integral part in developing long-term goals. In a larger business, you might also supervise a team of financial professionals

I agree with Professor answer Menrrva

As one of our participants rightly said that both the roles are same but disposal is different, I would like to add to this answer by saying that all depends upon the hierarchy structure set by the management. I have come across companies where there is no position called chief accountant and hence role which might a chief accountant would have done is done by accounts manager. Hence, in nutshell both the positions are managerial posotions.
