Research methodology is  theoretical analysis of the methods applied to a field of study. Managers needs to find out what would be the best method use to collect data or information for the purpose of making business decisions. If survey would be much easier than interviews, something like that.

Hi Jerry,

Good evening. In my opinion, research methodology are give insights about the data collection methods (Like survey, focus interview etc.) also it is inevitable to choose correct method to fulfil the objective of the project for e.g. short term forecast, long term forecast, understanding customers' behaviour etc. From managers point of view (if the manager is not the part of research project), the research methodology is important with respect to cost of the project and time bound of the project which is very crucial factor in today's industrial pace for example SBI is giving project to IBM. If the manager is owing the project then his aspect contain all the things mentioned above. Cost and time bound is very important factor in any research project since industries are always looking both the factor at minimal level.

I think research methodology is important for managers because it can either make the project successful or unsuccessful. For example, if manager is interested to know why one outlet is giving more sales than the other and he uses only quantitative analysis then he might take a wrong decision based on his findings like because upper class people are living nearby that outlet. It can only be a one factor, other factors included staff behavior and customer service that actually makes it possible so a right methodology is the key for the success of any project that is based on feasible studies or any other research.
