DEAR ARINJAY NICE QUESTION ,,,, ALL FEATURES YOU MENTIONED HAVE SOME VALUE ACCORDING TO DIFFERENT SITUATIONS AND FOR DIFFERENT HUMANS BECAUSE EVERY ONE HAS ITS OWN CHARCTER........... BUT THE TIME TESTED & PROVEN TOOL FOR ALMOST EVERY CONDITION IS....   APPRECIATION,,,, IT MOTIVATES THE PEOPLWE AND GIVE THEM CONFIDENCE TO DO INNOVATIONS..  GOOD LUCK FOR THE DAY.

FINANCE ,COMPETITION,APPRECIATION,POSITIVISM..EACH ONE IS RIGHT IN DIFFERENT WAYS..

WITHOUT FINANCE THERE IS NO BUSINESS..SO FINANCE IS REQUIRED TO MOTIVATE BUSINESS..COMPETITION PROVOKES TO DO A BETTER BUSINESS..APPRECIATION MOTIVATES PEOPLE AND GIVES MOTIVATION TO DO INNOVATIONS.. AND POSITIVISM WILL LEAD TO BE MORE MOTIVATED..

Motivations are for people and all factors mentioned would do so differently for varying people.

If you really ask it is competition:Within Competitors and Employees 

It helps you to improve your business in many ways

Competition leads to innovation. If you’re the only player in your field, it can be difficult to improve. And if you’re working in a crowded market, you won’t succeed by doing what everyone else does. Healthy competition encourages change which will distinguish your company from others.

As one of several companies offering a similar product, you are forced to compete for customers. Improving your customer service will garner loyal followers.

Competition shakes off complacency. If your company is consistently trying to innovate and better itself, your employees will be encouraged to push themselves.

Competition forces you to focus on your core audience. If you are targeting a specific geographic location or demographic, market challengers in that setting will encourage you to pay attention to your target group. In doing so, you will be able to better provide for your customers. 

They are all important within the right context and within the correct analysis of what is missing in the current situation.,  It could be finance, innovation, ompetition, threat, opportunity, ,,, etc ... etc 

agreeing with a Mr. Zafar and Mr. Irphan definitely appreciation and motivation are key players as they can produce finances eliminate any possibility for threat strike and produce better quality meaning less threat from competition

2- The product/service

3- Objectives and strategy

4- leaders in the market

Competition provokes you to do more better in business and imporve your business. 

In my view it is option e) None of above.

I believe that MBO "Managing by Objectives" philosophy is the best Tool to motivate Business Organisations.

If the Business Objectives & Goals are being achieved, it is the best motivation.

If not, bring about "Change" for meeting the Business Objectives & Goals.

If not, close down the Business.

To conclude, it is success and only success that can motivate Business Organastions and not failures.
