The softwares we have today are used to aid us in the analysis of structures in a shorter period of time. But, even if we have these softwares, we must always apply our knowledge we have as Structural Designers. We must know wether the output the software gives is correct or not. How could you check that if we don't know the basic manual calculations?
It depends on the structure, I think that the most complicated structures are done by SAP2000, still Robot provides many irresistible functions as reinforcement plans, so it depends on the structure, on what do you want (just moments and efforts or the whole study with documents). I am little bit lazy so I prefer Robot.
