What is a director,what is the job description of a director,how many years of experience needed for a professional to be promoted as a director?

A director is a manager of managers. His/her job description will be mostly related to stategies, staff selection, and man management. I would say that at least15 years of experience is required to appoint and very good professional as a director.

It is a Prestigious Role and carries lot of Responsibilities and there are different Rules and Requirements which are put forth by Limited Companies for this Position.Generally a Director of a Company is a Person who is at the helm of Affairs and takes decisions needed for functioning of the company across all sections of Company and Director reports to CEO or COO and is Second in Command after CEO,COO or Owner.

Not less than15 to20  years of Experience in the required field is looked for by an Employer for this Position further many companies settle for lesser experienced person.

I occupied the position of "ICT director" before and my main responsibiliities were  as the name implies ...  setting the direction for ICT internally for the company  and to work with key/strategic customers to help them set their directions tooo within the overall market/technology trends and directions dominating the ICT industry. 

As for the experience and years of experience, this varies from case to case. In my case, I took thatposition when I was50+ years old and with20+ years experience in hand !! 

Directorship is the authority to approve any decesion brought to his notice, main description of director is to get in critical thinking for the proposals or any work which effect directly on the business. 

Now experience is not only the parameter for a director it is expereince for ability.
