What kind of jobs that mining engineer can work on it if there is no vacancies in his main field

In my experience i have come across mining engineers that have moved onto to different field such as:

Geotechnical Engineering;

Hazardous Area Engineering;

Civil Engineering such as deep excavations, earth works and tunneling;

Commodity Market Analyst;

Also i have seen individuals move to different departments within a mining company such as processing, marketing, logistics and capital works.
