Do you think that giving away free samples is an effective method for sales and marketing?

Obtaining investments / budgets for marketing is always a challenge for the business development division of any organization. Hence whilst giving away 'Free Samples" is necessary as it helps create brand awareness, it would be more important and helpful to include a mechanism to track the responses and convert them into business opportunities. 

i think giving samples is an effective way of Marketing to our new launched products.
