Tell us about the most recent best two or three achievements you had and how you achieved it.

It will give enough space to evaluate the individual on several important parameters of evaluation.

Effective communication; Realistic approach; Truthfulness; Knowledge and strategy formation; team player; etc.

"Why do you think you are the right person for the job?" because you can see the way this person evaluades himself and the experience he had in tha past and you can always ask additional questions as he speaks.

 What do you do differently from other people in the same position?

As a  recruiter my first question will be "what is your expection from us & how will you fullfill our expectation " 

By way of answer a precise idea on candidates exposure in his past field will be revealed to some extant.

 

I have read your CV and am fully aware of your background, experience and qualifications, could you now please tell me why, in your opinion, you consider yourself as the most suitable candidate for this job?

 

Succinct and to the point, lets the candidate know that you have read his/her CV and are cognisant of the information in it, but now you want them basically to "sell" themselves.

"Where and how do you see yourself let's say in about5 years?"

The answer to this question reveals person's motivation, passion, drive, the ability to plan, coordinate and execute. It also shows character, type of personality and willingness to commit.

I'd only fall in repetition but I join Verena in having this question as favourite: "Why do you think you are the best fit for the job?" 

 

It cuts to the chase and gives the best candidate a fair chance to proliferate himself/herself based on his/her own words not his/her answers to MY questions.

 

If he/she is a truly eager, smart & well-prepared candidate he/she will also cover other relevant areas in answering like:

- Why me for this specific company?

- Why me now?

- Why & how I can benefit this company?
