How we can achieve operational excellence in supply chain regardless of industry ?

Supply chains, irrespective of industry, have similar basics.  To ensure a smooth supply chain, one needs to have a strong forecast, dependable suppliers with acceptable lead times and reliable operational processes.  The KPIs for all of the functions are more or less same and need to be fine tuned in accordance with industry.   The key element is having appropriate intelligence, automation and control over areas before supply chain i.e. inventory, sales, production, stock consumption etc.  

Most supply chains suffer because organizations have no control on elements that can produce effective forecasting and order planning.
