Never castigate. Babies learn to walk by falling down. If you beat a baby every time it falls he will never care much for walking. The same is with new hire learners.
If you are friendly and kind to the human everyone will confess/admit the mistakes.
Admitting mistakes is essential to success.
On the other hand business processes must be consturcted to eliminate mistakes. I see that treating new hires is not like treating babies. Effective business processes and supportive team members should be able to nurture new hires without expensive mistakes.
