Agile Project Management is preferred when dealing with rapidly changing environment, when requirements & scope are difficult to define in advance. Agile project management approach is intended to facilitate change or changes which are Iterative & Incremental in nature. Such Iterations are very rapid ( 2-4 weeks ) and are fixed in time & resources. There is a high degree of stake holder involvement in Agile Projects. Agile is generally used by IT domain professionals.
Both PRINCE2 & PMP are structured project management methods. PMP is more detailed & exhaustive compared to PRINCE2.

PRINCE2 (Projects IN Controlled Environments) is a structured project management method,PRINCE2 and certification programme for practitioners in the methodology who are accredited, qualified through training. PRINCE2 emphasises dividing projects into manageable and controllable stages.
It was initially developed as a UK government standard for information systems projects, and the current owner, AXELOS, is a joint venture by the Cabinet Office and Capita, with 49% and 51% stakes respectively.

Agile generally used for small projects where Time Line and Budget is fixed. Keep changes as variable in Water fall Model. Most famous in Software Industries. While PMP and Prince2 is used large and complex project where Time Line and Budget is not known and repeated changes are required. Famous in large and complex projects like construction and manufacturing
