Is there an inverse correlation between the contractors maintenance of contractual entitlement and good client relations/ possibility of future work?

Good relations with the Employer / Consultant and the Contractors maintenance of contractual rights or notifications of intent to claim tend to have an inverse correlation on most construction projects.
