In a piping system, how can you locate the position of support(Drag anchor support...etc)?

At the beginning of the development of this engineering practice to determine the position of the supports were made complex resistance calculations between two supports with freedom degrees according with the nature of the piping system necessity, both for empty pipes, and for water-filled pipes. Over the time, the results were standardized according to nominal pipe size, wall thickness and the distance between the supports for empty pipes, and / or water-filled pipes for different groups and categories of materials (iron, steel, stainless steel and so on).

Nowadays we use different software’s but, let's not forget to remember the fact that you have to have knowledge of resistance calculations, material standards and a vast field experience otherwise, the result will be one of a cartoon for children’s.

After reaching 90% design model stage , there are some special softwares  that analyse  the stress in the piping system and assign support types and their locations on the piping lines. After that Isometric drawing generation starts with the pipe supports allocated and tagged.

It is depends upon the Specification of pipe and routing of it and also Type of piping work like IBR or NIBR etc.

To determine the position of the support, complex resistance and stress analysis according to the specifications of piping with or without filling. Standardizations will be carried out according to material, nominal size, wall thickness and distances between support.
