Isolator is a off load device which is used for isolating the downstream circuits from upstream circuits for the reason of any
maintenance on downstream circuits. it is manually operated and does not contain any solenoid unlike circuit breaker. it should not be
operated while it is having load. first the load on it must be made zero and then it can safely operated. its specification only rated
current is given. But circuit breaker is on load automatic device used for breaking the circuit in case of abnormal conditions like short
circuit, overload etc., it is having three specification1 is rated current and2 is short circuit breaking capacity and3 is instantaneous
tripping current.
Isolator is an off-load device while, circuit breaker is an on-load device.Isolator is a switch operated manually, which separate the circuit from the power main and discharges the trapped charges in the circuit.A circuit breaker is an automatic switch, designed using electromechanical techniques to prevent power overload damage or short circuits.
Circuit is having coil for to make it trip due to overload or due to short circuit by shunt Relay but the isolator is only the on off switch with fuse protection or not depend on the design.
