Jack of all trades is good for survival even in a competitive world, but to lead and accelerate one need to be master of one (specialization). But please bear in mind specialization itself is usually quite diverse. Imagine specialization on an "atom" can result in atomic energy. There are very few who can research and focus on specialization to this level.
Jack of all trades have more chances of survival but less chances of making exceptional achievements or disruptions.
