1. Sense of Care for people as they are the reason of your existence.  People usually forget this
2. Sense of saving losses to your surroundings
3. Sense of keeping your employer safe from legal litigations due to unsafe practices
4. Keeping yourself informed of whats going around first hand and getting your own hands dirty
5. ALWAYS DOING THE RIGHT THING AND NOTHING ELSE

If you are someone who has anything of the above missing, then Safety is not for you.  Being a Safety guy is a very serious and huge committment.
