Is AutoCAD one of the best tools for all engineering works?

Sure, it is Important for all engineering works

I agree with my college  khalid halim .In addition there are many software depending on thr field working & site.

Auto CAD is only a drafting tool in 2-D and 3-D, it is not useful in analysis and design of structural components.  

it is one of the best of course , but we cant use it for some engineering related works like some survey works or earthwork, some kind of complicated Architectural designs,.... and so on

Auto CAD is one of the important tools for designer jobs. There are other software skills which are also important depending on your career orientation (beginner, middle level career) and organizational requirement

AutoCAD is a useful tool only for designing and drafting purpose. So it is not useful for engineers who are working in other fields.

Of course autocad has been the most easy , popular and well output resulted engineering programmes ever made , even though there's a big movement towards using revit but all the engineers have been using autocad not less than we can say 20 years because of its simplicity and alot of other obvious differences between autocad and revit (just like scale thing)
