The goal of a company is to make a return on the investment of the shareholders.  That is what a company is for.  If there are any specific sub-goals, they will be given in the constitution documents.

Mission statements do not mean anything, and should always be ignored.  Most are intrinsically meaningless.  Some are written specifically to satisfy or mislead specific groups, perhaps employees or protest groups: usually at least some of the target group is foolish enough to pay attention.

The only way in which a mission statement is ever useful is that sometimes it gives a clue as to whether the directors are competent, incompetent, mad or evil.
