What are the basic courses for automation engineer?

To be a good Automation engineer you must know :

1- what the process is? Industrial process 

2- the Industrial Controllers (PLC, SCADA,DCS,..)

3- The medium of control ( mechanical , electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic Actuators.)

The basic courses for automation engineer is " Advanced Diploma in industral Automation (ADIA)"

1. Electronics and Electrical 2. Mechatronics 3. Industrial process control 4. Industrial Instrumentation If you encounter all of this courses with experience, then you should be a tough Automation Engineer.

you can start by learning plc programming especially ABB,SIEMENS, SHNIEDER.

then learn SCADA software like wonderware intouch which will give u a general idea about the work of SCADA 

then HMI ,VFD DCS, sensors ,pnumatic and hydrolic control etc 

THERE IS DIPLOMA COURSE FOR PLC AND INSTRUMENTATION. BUT THE MATTER IS NOT ABOUT DOING AN AUTOMATION COURSE..ITS ABOUT THE REAL EXPERIENCE WE GAIN FROM WORKING IN AUTOMATION FIELD.THAT EXPERIENCE IS FAR GOOD THAN DOING ANY COURSE
