I can see an "assumption" behind this question that all positions should be filled by somebody with "background experience", which is not an accurate assumption for many positions.
It is a matter of "competencies" and "Skills" in addition to knowledge in order to be able to reach a sound decision. Generalizations here is not the best option actully.
I would accept, but keep in mind that the main driver for accepting a critical position not related to one's personal experience should not be only monetary, but the challenge to attempt a new avenue and the ability to become up to speed in the new environment. The rewards are countless.
In short, come out of the comfort zone!
This question reminds me of Mr. Richard Branson and I quote “If somebody offers you an amazing opportunity but you are not sure you can do it, say yes – then learn how to do it later!”
Based on my experience learning on your own is fun. It is when you realized that to cry for help is not a bad thing to do. It also helps you expand your network because you get to ask help from the experts.
I have put this in mind ever since because it makes sense. For me, if you are willing to learn and love challenges then it wouldn't be a problem after all. Sink or swim and learn it very fast.
I would accept the challenge and try my best to prove that selecting me for the job was worth it. Besides, they would not select me for the position unless they saw potential in me.
If the offer is coming from an organisation that is remembered for Business ethics, I will certainly accept the offer.
I was the reason for the interviewer to build confidence in me. I must and will with mighty, live upto the expectation.
I would accept the offer without a second thought!
No matter what experience I have in my field, everyday is a learning oppurtunity for me. Most of the time, I have experienced that the person who scores the most will always be the one would push his limit out of his comfort zone. Not the encyclopedia kinda guy, but the one who willing to do something from what he knows. The one who questions why, the one who asks assistance when he really needs it. The one who think maintaining good relationship is essential to work as a team.
So yes!
It depends i) if some one has professional background he/she should not switchover. ii) If it is at the earlier stage of his/her career challenge must be taken because there is ample time to make oneself adjusted with new field that will simply enrich experience. Most of us work for money so no harm to except consideing above two.
That mean you will start a new career, if I were you, I would see which is better to my future not only the better income, plan to your future , look at yourself after 5 years where you should be.
would take the offer and be ready to learn.knowledge is power
I will accept the position. Nobody will die on trying as long as we have patience on our work, willing to learn more, flexible and proactive on our job.
