As an accountant, I believe that ameliorating your accounting skills requires lots of personal effort.
I, personally, developed my skills by first working as a part-time trainee at a small company, and the reason I did that is that I wanted to work with the manual accounting system, handling manual records enriches your accounting skills and improves your accounting sense as it teaches you basically everything about this field.
To improve your Accounting and Financial Skills you must concentrate on below mentioned points during association with any organisation / your exposure:
1) You must be very strong in Basic principals of accounting and apply them practically wherever it is necessary during your exposure. In other words you must be conceptually good.
2) You must be more analytic and accurate being in accounts and finance function and keep on updating yourself about taxation system of the country and Accounting standards . Once you update, it is very much essential to apply them practically and ensure that you are abide by the laws and statute of the country and no compromise on this at any point of time otherwise it will affect your career growth.
3) You better write and maintain manually some firms or small company books of accounts which will help you to become perfect about Journals, Cashbook,ledger and postings, TB, BRS and Financial Statements. This will enable you to think and find out where you went wrong if it not matches and also helps you when you do your accounting in any software.
4) Interact with people and try to understand more from them by asking frequent questions and get yourself clarified all the doubts you have by seniors. While interacting know your limitations and make notes if possible.
5) Always try to question yourself as to Why ? When ? Where and How ? If you get answers for these questions you are more practical in solving problems and feel great.
6) Try to interact with Internal and External Customer of the organisation you are working for and know more about organisation and its accounting policy by reading previous annual reports .
7) Above all, one thing keep in mind is your : Attitude, Behavior and Interpersonal skills makes lot of difference when your are working. Accounts and Finance section is one, all the departments interacts and for all practical purposes VITAMIN - M is very important thru' which Organisation runs successfully and your duty being accounts and finance person is to Source and route VITAMIN - M -in a systematic manner as approved by State and Central govt and management. Please be careful and learn more. Always update yourself to survive in this world of new Technics which is changing every hour and every day.
8) Read the journals published by respective country accounting bodies who regulates accounting and finance profession like: ICAI , ICS, ICWAI,CMA etc.,

AFTER COURSE COMPLETION U SHOULD WORK ANY AUDITING FIRM AS TRAINEE AT LEAST1 YEAR
in training period , making mistakes is best tutor & dont be afraid to see odd cases and handle it

its so easy bro after time u will be sure a good accountant if u focus to learn and keep in mind that i have to get my goal. so pay attention to what seniors are doing so it will be easy to learn.

The books in accountancy only give you the basics. But after you learn the concept of debit and credit and you are able to balance both sides of the balance sheet it is work experience that improves your skills. A lawyer who practices more is a good lawyer. In the same way you should always keep in touch. Only by experience you know where to use sinking fund method of depreciation and where to use the straight line method.
