What are the difference between dependent demand inventory and independent demand inventory?

Dependent inventory consists of raw materials/spare parts/sub-assemblies to produce the complete selling product of a company whereas independent inventory consists of complete assemblies which are the selling products of a company (e.g. car,plane etc)
