Yes indeed, to create a photo-realistic look using mesh too you need to either be a genius, or use a good reference, I actually use reference images from free stocks, I am not a genius :D. But just keep in mind that patience when meshing is a must to achieve a good results. Also, keep in mind that symmetrical shapes are the best way to work when meshing.
