Does the following statement ring true or false for you?

Age and wisdom doesn't necessarily go hand-in-hand. Some companies when recruiting specify a minimum age for certain positions e.g. management which mostly is set at 35 years old. In my career I have seen 20+ individuals who display a mature approach and also is very capable of a filling a position typically seen as 'more mature'. Then is often results in them leaving which leaves a gap.

I think fresh minds can add a lot to companies.
If they fit the job description and have the skills that are required, they should be given a chance

An old Donkey is still a Donkey, a young ass is still an ass, it all depends on breeding but with age come wisdom not just education.  One issue arises because we are conditioned to respect age for the simple reason - age personifies experience and wisdom.  I have seen it all too often, a young manager, fresh out of college, wet behind the ears and in a position because he has some new qualification that took a week at night school, no experience, no people skills.

Years ago you had to work up to a position, you earned it, now younger people expect it because of a qualification.  Pay your dues guys like your father and his father before him, work your way up, earn the position and the respect.

For me it will always be the tortoise, not the hare.
