What is the best operating system and why?

it depends on the type of work you use your computer for, it's mac if your into graphics and design, linux for open source and every thing and windows7 its very good

in my opinion linux is the best operating system.because its a virus free operating sytstem.and many big companies also adopt linux for big projects.

WINDOWS XP/WINDOWS7&8 are the best operating systems if u r a home or small office user.
these are user friendly, easy and having all advanced features systems so evertime i prefer to use these operating systems.
Except this u may use WINDOWS NT if u want some sort of security in your work.

i guess for me its windows, simply because its user-friendly for most users.
mac is very expensive.
but still, it depends on the users.
there are types of users that can give best to what everyone's needs.

For ordinary people or individuals MAC OS, Windows because they are easier to use either for companies and programmers are using UNIX or Linux in some business

I think Linux is better for home users because it has two main benefits the1st is the free virus attack if we compare with Windows as the more kinds of viruses and the2nd is the high accuracy of designs mainly we can say that Linux is gives users the impression of Windows with the efficiency of Mac

I don't think there is any such thing as the best operating system.  It all depends on the use case.  Having said that, for ease of use Mac OSX will be tops followed by Windows although these days several Linux distributions have got good desktops to make it easier to use.  For server applications it will depend on the application itself as Windows applications don't run on Linux or Unix operating systems.  For web server application I would go for Linux as it's very flexible, secure and performs well.

windows OS are user friendly for home and small offices but for security you can use like linux, UBUNTU, openSUSE and for graphics and design id prefer you use mac OS..
