What are the differences between push supply chain management and pull supply chain management strategies?

There are many differences, I would list one pertaining to manufacturing strategy:

Long production runs.  Engineering development should focus on reducing economies of scale issues and assisting in moving more to a pull model

Pull Model has short & flexible production runs.
