As an architect in your opinion: which way do you prefer to start designing a building "the concept, the section , the master plan, the parking "?

My steps: (1) calculating areas accurately (2) Concept.
(3) Module.
(5) placing the zones ( according to the right zoning).
(5) the parking is a part of the whole shape .(6) specify Entry and Exit ways.
(7) Master plan.
(8) elevations and sections.
Also I've seen other architects getting nice designs out of a totally strange scratches.
Sometimes I also begin everything with imaginations and sketching and elevations, but when there's a concept i feel comfortable as the design comes to flow easily and i also think concept gives the design its strength.

Well, that depends on the type,size, and requirements of the project.
But all projects share the same first step: Site Visit & Land Data.
If your project is huge " urban design is included", you start with master plan concept and zoning "determining spaces" together.
If you have a residential building, then you start with your plans and parking to locate your structural columns and entries.
But if it's a residential villa, i think your concept would be presented well on your elevations, the masses and openings...
Finally, if yours is a commercial building, then you have to focus on both the plans and elevations, depending on what kind of commercial project you're dealing with: Offices BLDG, Mall " city center ", Exhibition building....
etc So concept of the project is related to the master plan, the plans, the elevations, sections....
but which come first and which is your priority is determined by the project itself.

Well, for me,1st thing i check is the site the building will be built on to understand my basic limitations (like the shape of the available land, it's location with respect to the surroundings & the environment ..etc) ...after that i start with the Concept &3D sketching.
I personally keep working on plans & sections till the end, when i've decided on everything & it's time to make it functional...
Buildings are3D spaces, you have to feel that space so you'll design it correctly & effectively..2D is just a representation of it (just for the sake of constructing the space).

Design is a complicated work.i myself at the first carfully listen to my employer after that i study about field and envirenmemt and some other parameters.next i start to draw handy sketch.prespective & plan &simple sections.i think design is a return process i mein we have to design total mass and return to plan and section.mybe we do it for several times untill we get satisfied with our work.although i always try to design new and beauty and effective

MASTER PLAN

Salam Alikom, Firstly I develop my project with a precious steps:1-environment (for integration)
2- nature of project
3- concept (based on the useful points of environment and architect's principles and ideas)
4- developing the concept of project in elevation (volumetry)
5- the beauty interior and exterior anyway in result, a perfect project have to secure three principals points :
1- function
2- firmness
3- beauty

It depends n the kind of project if i ll start wiz section or3d it should be a musuem for exm If i ll start with plan & cirrcualtion it ll be a hospital proj So its abt the project needs

in my opinion the most important is the surrounding environment that crystallize the concept as sketches and it should get better while drawing the plans , sections , and all needed to achieve the idea .

First of all the concept, then measurements, then you need to make a master plan to proceed your work.
