How do you differentiate between trading accounts and non trading accounts?

A company which is engaged in the business of purchase and sale of any product then they will prepare trading a/c inorder to know their trading profit.
But the company which is not engaged in the business of purchase and sale like service providing company,they are providing their services only then they will prepare on profit or loss a/c not trading a/c.
